The inverted chassis configuration allowed FOX to design the Podium with a massive 175 mm of bushing overlap. That’s 32% more overlap than the 38 and even 7% more than the FOX 40 DH race fork with 200 mm travel. This overlap not only contributes to greater stiffness at the front and rear, but also gives the Podium an unfair advantage by minimizing chassis friction, especially when riding at high speed through the roughest terrain when the bending load on the fork is at its greatest.
GLIDECORE AIR SUSPENSION
GlideCore reduces friction by moving with the fork under dynamic load. Large nitrile butadiene rings dampen and control this movement laterally under load and axially to minimize breakaway friction. The result? Smooth suspension action and reduced fatigue.
LARGE AXLE DIAMETER
Upside-down forks have no triple clamp, which is why it has been a challenge in the past to achieve sufficient torsional stiffness. With a custom-made 20 x 110 mm steel Boost DH axle, we have achieved the optimum torsional stiffness for the Podium, which has been confirmed by extensive test rides (including blind tests) by our engineers and athletes.
FAT FORK TUBES. SOLID TRIPLE CLAMP.
The Podium’s fat 47 mm fork tubes and massive triple clamp give it impressive forward/backward stiffness. The stiffness of the chassis is almost on par with a FOX 40, so you can take on the roughest and steepest trails with absolute confidence and downhill race speed.
SPECIALLY TUNED GRIP X2 DAMPING
The Podium relies on the award-winning GRIP X2 damping. This has been tuned for higher compression support to match the reduced friction of the chassis. Bikers sit higher in the suspension travel and feel more traction in the corners, which gives more confidence and significantly reduces fatigue while biking.
