Maven is the most powerful brake Sram has ever built.
Usable braking power for efficiency and tunability.
Extreme performance for more speed and control in increasingly challenging terrain.
Maven gives you the power to go further.
The boundless power of trust.
The power for more endurance and less fatigue.
This allows you to explore the limits of your skills with sensitivity and determination.
Maven.
New powers to go ahead.
Maven delivers almost 50% more stopping power than one of the most powerful brakes of all time, the SRAM Code.
While it’s tempting to focus only on this fact, Maven is about more than brute force.
LESS EFFORT Even more important than the maximum braking power is the usable braking power.
With Maven, you need 32% less hand force on the lever to produce the same braking power as with the Code.
This reduces fatigue and improves control in tough DH terrain, on merciless e-MTB laps and long enduro stages.
Ride harder and longer – Maven offers the best of both worlds.
With four 19.5 mm and 18 mm diameter brake pistons, there’s no way around it: Maven’s brake pistons are simply huge and offer more pressure against the pads for better friction with less effort.
PROGRESSIVE POWER FOR BETTER CONTROL The Swinglink, optimized for Maven, delivers leverage that changes over the entire lever path.
The further you pull the lever, the more power Maven sends to the pistons.
This progressive power delivery provides unmatched control.
In contrast to the binary characteristic of an “on/off” feeling.
BETTER RATIO Huge brake pistons are of no use if the ratio of the piston size in the lever is not matched to them.
The force is determined by the ratio between these piston sizes, and Maven offers excellent optimization of these parameters.
FOUR BOLTS FOR STIFFNESS If you measure a caliper under load, you’ll notice that it bends.
The four screws on the brake caliper housing of the Maven are not just there for decoration.
They reduce the loss of power at the brake caliper and thus ensure a secure feeling at the lever.
FAMILIAR FEELING When you press a Maven lever, you will find a familiar feeling.
The position of the pivot point, the length and shape of the lever as well as the pressure point adjustment have been taken from the Code, so that the proven ergonomics of the lever are retained.
The brake hoses run in a new stealth architecture that is optimized for a tidy cockpit and at the same time harmonizes well with today’s frame routing options.
TUNING Maven’s excess stopping power makes it the go-to choice for the extreme uses of the sport.
But with so much power, you can also throttle them.
Think of it like a volume control.
More available power gives you more options. BRAKE DISCS Start small – the smallest brake rotor your frame and suspension fork can accommodate is the recommended starting point for setting up the Maven.
Every 20 mm increase in the size of the brake disc results in a mechanical advantage of 14%.
So, if you upgrade from a 180 mm rotor to a 220 mm rotor, the system performance will increase by 28%.
However, a brake disc that is too large can also lead to not generating enough heat.
A smaller brake rotor that generates the optimal temperature can even have more bite on the trail.
If you pay attention to the color of the spokes of your brake discs, it can be an indication of the performance of your brake discs.
– Brownish or bronze discoloration means that the size is optimal.
– Purple or rainbow discoloration means that your brake discs are running too hot and you should adjust the size.
– No significant discoloration means they won’t get hot enough and scaling them down would result in optimal performance.
Choose the HS2 brake discs for 7% more power and better thermal management, or the CenterLine brake discs if you need less power and want to save weight.
MAVEN’s unique XL pad shape is available in two compounds, each with its own characteristics.
– Organic brake pads are ideal if you want a fast response and less noise.
They offer the best performance in dry conditions.
– Sintered brake pads are ideal when you need high heat resistance.
They also offer better performance in wet or muddy conditions.
TO BEAT THE HEAT, USE THE HEAT It’s a common misconception that heat is the worst enemy of the brakes.
But the fact is that heat is essential.
For a brake to be powerful and durable, it must retain enough heat in the system, but avoid rapid fluctuations between hot and cold.
It’s an art.
An art in which Maven shines.
SMART THERMAL MASS Maven calipers provide more consistent performance by maintaining the optimal operating temperature for an extended period of time.
Due to their greater thermal mass, they take longer to heat up, keep excess heat at bay, and still retain optimal heat so they don’t cool down too quickly.
When the caliper avoids the peaks and troughs of heat and cold, consistency of performance reaches a whole new level.
IT STARTS WITH THE SEALS The Maven piston seal in the caliper is made of a material developed in-house that retains its properties and is airtight even in extreme braking heat or low outside temperatures.
These remarkably heat-resistant seals also allow Maven to eliminate the previous weakness of mineral oil and reap its advantages.
You can tackle the most extreme terrain and the longest descents with a consistent feel, run after run.
