Description
The new DEORE XT M8100 series, the latest generation of SHIMANO's "Original" mountain bike component group, continues this tradition with its top performance features and is precisely designed to meet the wishes and requirements of modern, demanding and adventurous mountain bikers.
1x12-speed crankset
The new DEORE XT 1x12-speed crankset features - of course - SHIMANO's world-renowned HOLLOWTECH II technology, among others. The chainrings feature DYNAMIC CHAIN ENGAGEMENT + technology with alternately wider and narrower teeth as well as a special precision-manufactured tooth shape. This ensures that the chain is held securely on the chainring at the top, but is released just as easily, gently and quietly when it comes off at the bottom, so that safety and efficiency are guaranteed in equal measure. Thanks to the Direct Mount attachment, the chainrings can also be mounted quickly and easily and thus also changed quickly for different usage scenarios.
Cassette & Chain
The DEORE XT 12-speed cassettes fit MICRO SPLINE compatible freewheel bodies and are optionally available with 10-45Z for particularly low gear jumps or with 10-51Z for maximum bandwidth. Both feature HYPERGLIDE+ technology, which ensures fast, smooth and frictionless gear changes on upshifts and downshifts alike, contributing to an overall very quiet and efficient drivetrain. The cassettes have a spider construction made of aluminium, the two largest sprockets are each also made of aluminium, while the ten others are made of steel, which guarantees an excellent balance of robustness and durability on the one hand and a low weight on the other.
The SHIMANO XT 12-speed HG chain
The DEORE XT HG chain has been completely redesigned and has even finer, precision-machined contact surfaces to the sprockets and chainrings, especially on the inner plates. In addition, the inner plates are chromed and thus even more durable with at the same time excellent shifting performance when upshifting and downshifting.
Shift levers
With an even wider range of adjustment in both lateral and rotational direction, the I-SPEC EV shift levers, which are integrated into the brake lever, can be individually adapted to all preferences, seating or riding positions or anatomical conditions. Rubber contact surfaces on the levers and SHIMANO's flagship technologies INSTANT-RELEASE, MULTI-RELEASE and 2-WAY-RELEASE ensure maximum shifting comfort. For 2-speed systems, the left shift lever SL-M8100-L takes over the changes between large and small chainring. Thanks to the new RAPIDFIRE Plus MONO technology, this shift lever only needs one control lever. By pressing the thumb, tension is generated and the front derailleur is pulled upwards, the lever is locked in this position. Another short press of the thumb releases the lock, the cable is released and the chain moves back to the small chainring. Right and left shift lever are of course also available in a classic clamp version.
Rear derailleur
The DEORE XT has two rear derailleurs in the line-up: The RD-M8100-SGS for 1-speed systems and the RD-M8120-SGS for 2-speed systems. Both guarantee fast and highly precise gear changes over an immense gear ratio range and feature SHIMANO SHADOW RD+ technology for chain stabilisation. In addition, both feature rubber dampers and large 13-tooth idlers and tensioners that reduce noise levels for a more enjoyable ride.
