Description
If there's an XC bike for downhillers, ...

The new 120mm Tallboy is making big leaps again for a short-travel bike. With a strong lower-link VPP rear end, sporty styling, Santa Cruz-style build quality and rather radical geometry, the Tallboy is back on track to push the boundaries of bike categories.
Sure, 10mm more travel only sounds like a small change - but combined with our new (lower rocker controlled) VPP suspension, this is a big step for the Tallboy.
A bike that only knows full throttle and is ready to sprint at any time - whether uphill, downhill or in flat flowtrail. The maximum efficiency of the VPP rear triangle results in a pleasantly fast and light-footed ride. Technically, it stands on the same platform as our Longtravel bikes and thus feels comfortable not only in classic XC terrain, but also on "real" trails. Paired with a 130mm fork, the new Tallboy is also becoming more appealing to aggressive bikers.
The biggest change is in the geometry ...
The dusty theory suggests that "small" shorttravel bikes are ridden slower and therefore require steeper and more conservative geometries than their big enduro brethren. But does that really make sense? Don't we always want to go full throttle on light trail bikes and fully enjoy every descent and trail?
So we sat down and translated our enduro geometries to "crosscountry". And developed a fast bike with low travel and a flat 65.5° steer angle, generous reach and a low offset fork - an aggressive geometry still rarely seen in this travel class.
And the radical thinking doesn't stop there. The Tallboy's short 430mm chainstays have an adjustment option of +/- 10mm to make riders of all sizes and styles feel equally comfortable. Combined with a relatively low bottom bracket (33.5mm or 37.5mm BB drop), the Tallboy can be pushed into berms with athleticism and playfully zipped through even the most challenging trails.
There's no category that fits this bike (yet). But the name Tallboy says it all - this bike is a fun machine for big boys.
